Successful Bees

Did y’all know I used to help keep bees🐝🐝🐝?

In my first marriage, we spent three summers managing a few hives. We learned the hard way there are different bee species. Russians and Italians.

Italian bees produce elegant, straight, orderly honeycomb. IF they sting you it’s not terrible.

The Russians. Those broads are vicious - they protect the mother and don’t want you anywhere close to their hive. Russian bees make the most god-awful looking honey - a gnarly mess if you will.

The end result though: both species have to take to produce honey. Both species have to forage. Both species have to make wax to protect the honey. Both species protect the queen (unless there’s a coup and then you lose your hive. Bye girl bye.)

So what’s the point? The point is that consistency - regardless of what it looks like (gnarly comb or uniform) it still takes consistency to produce something valuable. Quitting because your honeycomb looks a mess will leave you with one result: nowhere to store the honey.

You owe it to yourself to keep showing up. To keep doing the damn thing - even if it looks a mess for a moment.

Make honey - not absence. You got this bae-bae.
